These stories are at the heart of who we are. Each story is a thread in our shared tapestry, connecting past and present, self and community, locally and globally. Together, they form a living archive of collective memory, resilience, resistance and radical hope.

Yasaman's Story

Radio Melissa

A series of podcasts that bring the voices, music, and sounds of migrant women to the forefront of public discourse.

Women from different parts of the world who live in Athens and participate in Melissa’s activities - women from Afghanistan, Algeria, Cameroon, Congo-Kinshasa, Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon and Ukraine. The resulting podcasts reflect their rich linguistic, cultural, and sonic resources.

Based on a series of sound and music workshops organised in collaboration with ERC CoG MUTE from July 2023 to January 2024.

An Unfinished Journey

Forced to flee their country after the Taliban take-over in 2021, four Afghan women leaders struggle to keep the world's attention on the unfolding crisis in Afghanistan, while coming to terms with what it means to have their power usurped and two decades of progress dismantled. From their distant exile-countries these four female leaders - past parliamentarians, ministers and journalists - watch the Taliban strip women and girls of the right to be educated, to work and to participate in society. No longer in positions of influence, they are forced to reinvent themselves to continue the fight for a free and just Afghanistan. When the world’s attention has turned to the next headline and even the greatest superpower has admitted defeat, can these women succeed?

Breakfast Club with Melissa Network of Migrant Women, Athens

The Melissa Network of Migrant Women in Athens is a sanctuary for migrant and refugee women, and provides support through language classes, workshops and childcare. In partnership with the Greek National Opera, Breakfast Club spent four days working with the women who access the centre, responding to female representations in music making, opera and everyday life.
